Mana Foundry Logo

The Crest
Picture

A potion bottle filled halfway of blue liquid with a pentagon label of a capitalized "M" in Charmonman font, capped by a cork.

Behind it is a standard microphone on a mic stand pole and a blacksmith's hammer in an X formation, altogether forming a Jolly Roger-style logo.

The potion bottle is a vessel representing a medium, or point of reference to communicate a message in artistic form.

The blue potion represents magic, or "mana". Fantasy role-playing games are known to use blue-colored potions as the means to refill a character's available magic for spell-casting.

Creativity can be translated as a kind of magic, so it represents a vessel or basin where creativity rests awaiting to be poured and utilized.

Likewise, there are many wondrous and amazing works of art that defy understanding. Throughout ancient history, we have rationalized unexplainable phenomenon as magic.

Pentagons are the faces of a dodecahedron, a platonic solid representing aether. Mana Foundry is associated with the element
of aether, or the substance of the void of the universe. A medium or vessel by which all other elements are housed.

The M of course represents the name of Mana Foundry, in a Charmonman font. This is perceived as a fantasy-style font. Fantasy being a creative process.

The tools represent the range of artistic outlets. A blacksmith's hammer is used to create physical works of art. Microphones are used to create intangible works of art.

A hammer also represents a foundry.

The Jolly Roger originates from Barbary pirates. They inspired the overgeneralized term "barbarians", who were considered inferior and uncivilized people who were not integrated in Greek or Roman society. So, there is a tongue and cheek element in that artists are often vilified for not integrating with regular society. I.e., they are not "normal".

Pirates traveled the high seas with a sense of freedom to such an extent that they did not feel beholdened to a nation's laws. They ultimately developed their own. While Mana Foundry respects and abides by local laws, part of the essence of art is to be free to share one's opinion through artistic mediums regardless of what people think.

The high seas of an artist is the dimension of conscious ideas and emotion, and we endeavor to steal and capture the attention of our audiences.

The logo is also reminiscent of a family crest. A crest represents a tribe or clan, implying that Mana Foundry is a close-knit in-group akin to a family. This is to inspire the idea that Mana Foundry consists of an exclusive and well-connected network of artists, supporting one another in various ways.
